Change tyres at the next valid pit stop

Request your next tyre on the Driver Display. The current tyre remains active until the next valid pit stop; selecting a tyre is not an immediate change.

Separate the starting tyre from a live request

The starting tyre is configured with the vehicle during race preparation. During a race, the Driver Display can request a tyre for the next pit stop when the tyre feature is available.

Current tyre and requested tyre have different meanings. Choosing rain tyres does not immediately apply them while the car is still racing. Check which value you are looking at before concluding that the change has happened.

    Perform one clear change

Prepare the necessary pit and tyre functions first. Use the current Driver Display link for the correct driver.

    1. Compare the driver and current tyre on the display.
    2. Request the tyre for the next pit stop.
    3. Complete a valid pit stop under the current race rules.
    4. Compare the applied current tyre in Race Control and on the Driver Display.

Weather does not select your tyres for you

A weather transition may make another tyre a sensible choice. It does not replace the driver’s request or a valid pit stop. Weather condition, requested tyre and applied tyre remain separate states.

After the stop, read the current tyre rather than just the earlier request. This makes it clear whether the requested change was actually applied. A later stop without a new request should not be treated as a request for the old tyre.

      Investigate an unapplied request methodically

Check the driver, whether the request arrived, and whether the stop qualified. A non-qualifying pit visit need not change the current tyre. Repeating several unexplained stops is not a substitute for checking that sequence.

For support, note the tyre before and after the stop and the visible stop assessment. You are finished when both displays show the same applied tyre.

Does a weather transition automatically change the tyre?

No. The requested tyre is applied at the next valid pit stop. Until then, the current tyre remains active.
